Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home (Activity and Intervention)
Location: Maer, Staffordshire
Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 annually
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a children's residential home in Maer, Staffordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about working with young people in an activity-based intervention environment. The role focuses on providing short-term, high-impact support using outdoor and adventure-based activities to help young people rebuild confidence, trust, and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Service Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality care in a residential setting.
- Lead and support a team of staff, ensuring professional standards and best practices are upheld.
- Develop and implement care plans, risk assessments, and intervention strategies tailored to individual young people.
- Facilitate outdoor and adventure-based activities such as mountain biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, hill walking, rock climbing, and more.
- Support young people aged 8-18 in developing self-confidence, emotional resilience, and independent living skills.
- Act as a positive role model, fostering meaningful and supportive relationships.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in shift patterns that may include overnight stays.
Requirements:
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Health and Social Care qualifications are not accepted.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a residential childcare setting at a senior level.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
- A strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and behaviour management.
- A passion for outdoor activities and supporting young people through intervention-based care.
- The ability to work flexibly, including overnight stays as required.
