Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: St Albans
Salary: £16.60 – £17.70 per hour + additional £3,000–£6,000 per year for sleep-ins (4–8 per month)
Hours: Full-time, 39 hours per week
Requirements: NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce (CYPW) or Residential Childcare, and Full UK Driving Licence

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a dedicated team supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs in a residential setting in St Albans. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the leadership and day-to-day management of the home, ensuring high standards of care are consistently delivered
- Provide strong guidance and mentoring to staff to maintain a therapeutic, nurturing environment
- Lead by example as a positive role model, building trusting relationships with children and young people
- Assist in strategic planning for service development and contribute to inspections and improvement plans
- Oversee rotas, budgets, staff development, and compliance with safeguarding and regulatory frameworks
- Work in partnership with external agencies to support the individual care plans of young people
What You’ll Need:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in residential childcare
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Residential Childcare or Young People
- Knowledge of OFSTED regulations and safeguarding procedures
- Experience with rota planning and budget management
- A proactive and hands-on approach with strong leadership qualities
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and sleep-in duties
