About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children’s Residential Support Worker to work at a residential children’s home in Derby. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the day-to-day care and support of children and young people aged 8-18 who have experienced trauma, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Your role is to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that enables them to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Direct Care: Support children with daily routines, including meals, personal hygiene, and bedtime, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
Emotional Support: Build trusting relationships with the children, offering emotional support, guidance, and understanding. Help them develop coping strategies and positive behaviors.
Activity Planning: Organize and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities that promote the children’s development, self-esteem, and life skills.
Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the home. Be vigilant for signs of distress or safeguarding concerns, and follow procedures to report and address these promptly.
Care Planning: Work closely with the care team to implement and review personalized care plans for each child. Contribute to the development of strategies that support their individual needs and goals.
Communication and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and reports on each child's progress, behavior, and any incidents. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory standards.
Collaboration: Work in partnership with other professionals, such as social workers, teachers, and healthcare providers, to ensure a holistic approach to the care and development of each child.
Shift Work: Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
Previous experience working with children, preferably in a residential or similar care setting.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues.
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent qualification.
Experience working with children with emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD).
